Information about Blanca, Murcia
Blanca is just one of the eight pretty towns that make up the Ricote Valley. The River Segura runs alongside the town making fishing, canoing and rafting favourite pastimes. Famous for its annual Bull Run (Encierro) it is a mix of cobbled streets in the old antique quarter and modern shops and a museum dedicated to the works of local Artist Pedro Cano. The castle which reigns over thee town was built by the Muslims in the 11th or 12th century on the Peña Negra overlooking the Segura River and 223 meters above sea level. This low altitude ensures wonderful Mediterrean summers and short mild winters. Blanca is part of the high fertile plains of the Segura River with lush citrus and soft fruit orchards which flank the roadside.
