Information about La Cala De Mijas, Costa Del Sol
My wife and I have been coming to la cala for 20yrs. and it still not lost any of the charm. we had a studio room based in la cala hotel in centre of the village 20 yrs ago for 5 yrs and only paid £500 for it then, we go back every year as we have became friendly with local bar owner and his family who allways make you very welcome when you return. we will be there in may 2012 and back in august, please try the newmarket pub as the food is the best in la cala. please give it a try you will love it.

We have had 3 holidays here and love it!! We stumbled upon it quite by accident and were charmed. It retains a village feel and had no tall buildings nor a package holiday feel. The chiquitos (beach bars) are great. Cant wait to return in August!!

La Cala de Mijas is a small beachside town between Fuengirola and Riviera del Sol (which happens to be in the municipality of Mijas.)
La Cala de Mijas actually means "the bay of Mijas", which accurately explains its situation. In a similar way the neighbouring resort of Calahonda translates as "deep bay".
La Cala is the typical whitewashed fishing village that has grown with the tourist industry to become a popular resort. Unlike many other resorts along the Costa del Sol, La Cala has managed to maintain both its picture postcard looks and its authentic Spanish character.
This makes it a popular destination and is one reason perhaps the property prices remain high in the vilage and close proximity.

Mijas is a town and municipality in the province of Málaga, in Andalusia, southern Spain. It is a typically Andalusian white-washed village located at a mountain side about 450 m above mean sea level, in the heart of the Costa del Sol region.
The municipality includes: Mijas Pueblo (the hillside village), Mijas Costa (main commercial and residential area adjacent to (but not strictly part of) Fuengirola), La Cala de Mijas (separate village and small resort by the sea to the west) and Las Lagunas (largely suburban and mixed commercial to the north of Fuengirola).
