Villanueva de la Concepcion is a traditional Spanish village located midway between Malaga and Antequera. The village is situated on the southern slopes of the El Torcal Natural Park and this large mountain range sits as a stunning backdrop to the village.

Due to its relative anonymity, Villanueva de la Concepcion has not been found by the hordes of tourists and foreign buyers and therefore still retains a traditional farming culture. Due to this lack of tourism, the villagers themselves will welcome you as guests to their home rather than seek to make a fast buck from you.

The village is popular with nature lovers, walkers, cyclists and those seeking a quieter pace of life. Whilst the El Torcal Natural Park is one of the main draws for visitors there is plenty more in the area - the historic city of Antequera (known as the crossroads of Andalucia) gives easy road and rail access to the other major Andaluz cities of Granada, Cordoba and Seville.

Just 35 minutes north of Malaga, Villanueva de la Concepcion is easily reached from the airport and visitors can equally take a trip to the beach in less than an hour.

Villanueva de la Concepcion has a welcoming air and the locals like nothing than to show their hospitality to strangers. During the annual feria and fiestas the locals will let their hair down and party like you’ve never seen before! Their stamina is quite amazing.

The village is set quite high above sea level and offers a truly temperate climate with clear air (ideal for those with asthma) and is free of the smog and pollution found along the coast. El Torcal provides a defence against the high heat of the inland areas and also provides a barrier from the winter cold creeping from the plains north of Antequera.

This unspoilt village offers a slice of real Spain yet is within easy reach of the coast and all large cities within Andalucia.
