Information about Gandesa, Tarragona
We have a masea just outside Gandesa, we have owned it since 2006. It is SO peaceful, and quiet, a perfect retreat for us!
The village has everything we need, and although our Catalan is not very good, we manage to make ourselves understood and the locals are very friendly and patient!
The wine is fantastic, the weather gorgeous (although can be wet April/May) and the area beautiful - definitely worth a visit!

There is one primary and one secondary school in Gandesa.
There used to be 30+ English kids in the primary school, now there are 6, due to most families going back to the UK for numeous reasons.

Busy capital town of Terra Alta. There used to be many ex-pat families living on fincas in this area, but the majority have now moved back to the UK because of numerous reasons, mainly not being able to get permission to build on the rustic land, find work, speak the language, etc etc. I have lived in the area for almost 5 years so have witnessed this first hand.
