This large house has been carefully renovated, respecting its original architecture and traditional features. It has attractive beamed ceilings, thick walls and Moorish archways. The house is far larger inside than its external appearance suggests, and can be viewed in a virtual tour by following the link from our own website. The house rambles over four floors and the rooms are large and airy, cool in the summer, with a wood-burning stove to take the chill off the cold mountain evenings in winter.
There is a private patio for dining al fresco, and the spacious split level roof terrace enjoys views of the surrounding hillsides and the town's imposing fifteenth century church. The house is situated in a delightfully quiet street in the oldest part of historic Alhama, yet the main square, with its shops, bars and restaurants, is a gentle stroll away.
Alhama de Granada is built on the edge of a gorge (El Tajo), and is described by the Rough Guide to Andalucia as ‘one of the unsung gems of Granada province’. It is the perfect location for anyone wishing to experience life in a traditional Spanish town whilst exploring the fantastic countryside around – the Tajo, the Sierra de Loja, Lake Bermejales. The hot springs, used since Roman times, are just outside town. The owners used to live in Alhama, and meet and greet is done by an English friend who is lucky enough to still live there.
Prices include bed linen and towels (except beach towels) and a small welcome pack (tea, coffee, milk, juice, biscuits, butter and bread). Extra shopping can be arranged if required.
holiday rental prices from £250 to £280 per week.
