La Herradura is a small friendly Andalucian seaside village, with narrow streets, tapas bars and a wide range of reasonably priced restaurants. There is a daily municipal market where you can buy fresh fruit, meat and freshly caught fish. There is also a fresh bakery and local shops to buy your daily groceries. There is a chemist, dentist, health centre, bank and english speaking hair-dresser . There are a very good selection of beach side restaurants and bars offering fresh cuisine and typical Spanish tapas very reasonably priced.
The excellent beach offers a wide range of watersports, sailing, windsurfing, snorkelling, diving etc. There are various scuba diving centres and clubs located in the village, as well as Marina del Este, Almuñecar and Motril. Paragliding is another popular sport enjoyed in this area.
La Herradura is situated 5 minutes from the leisure port of Marina del Este, 10 minutes from Almuñecar with its Castle, Roman ruins, winding streets, popular Friday open air market, new aquarium and water slide park, and 15 minutes from Nerja and the Balcon de Europe.
There are many traditional colourful fiestas throughout the year. A perfect location to relax and enjoy the ´real´ Spain.
