Despite being a small village San Juan de Plan is well-known throughout Spain after a group of bachelors got together and put an advert in the paper in 1985 for ‘single women looking for marriage’.
It began as a joke in the bar one night but, spurred on by the severe shortage of young women in the village, the men went ahead with the ad looking for women aged between 20 and 40. And the result was outstanding; between 1985 and 1989 some 40 couples married as a result of the ‘caravans’ which brought women to Plan. The small mountain village was well and truly put on the map by the accompanying media caravan that arrived with the women.
This end of terrace stone mountain house is being sold fully furnished.
There are two double bedrooms and a large attic (26m2) which could easily be converted into two more bedrooms.
The living room is 20m2, the kitchen 8m2, the front garden 30m2, a kitchen terrace of 5m2, a garage of 13m2 and a storeroom of 6m2.
It has a bathroom with toilet as well as an additional toilet and plumbing ready to install another bathroom in the attic.
San Juan de Plan is situated along the banks of the River Cinqueta and keeps the traditions and customs of the Pyrenean valleys alive, among them the typical bonfire for San Juan, carnival and various folk activities like dance.
