Many families from inland towns (Madrid, Xativa etc.) own second summer homes here and flock to the coast to escape the summer heat experienced in the interior. Oliva also boasts a superb resort which is more peaceful and less built up. The sand dune beach is relatively unspoilt and is now protected land from further development.
Again many families own second holiday homes here and the resort is thriving in the long summer and then the remaining months of the year the beach is very quiet ideal for water sports, horse riding, long walks in the winter sunshine. There are many other superb sandy blue flag beaches in the region which can be found just a short drive or within 5 miles of the town. The magnificent Safor mountain range within the National Park is just a few miles from the village beginning at Villalonga and provides fantastic country side to explore by foot, bike, horse, motor bike or 4 x 4 vehicle. There are various tracks with natural springs and the old Railway line is now a popular walk and follows the River Serpis to L'Orcha providing breath taking scenery along the way.
The other end of the scale, a little more cosmopolitan, is the Oliva Nova Golf Complex with 18 hole course and driving range designed by Seve Ballesteros, this enjoys a virgin sand dune beach setting and is approx. a 10 min drive from the house.
