Soller is located about 25 kilometres to the north of Palma and until the beginning of the last century could only be reached through winding paths across the mountains or from the sea. Nowadays it can be reached either across the 500 metres high Col de Soller or the toll tunnel built 10 years ago which although less pictures is convenient and much improves acces to and from Palma. Furthermore there is also still an antique railway connecting it with Palma. The village of Soller has what is probably the most attractive and buzzing Plaza in Majorca, whilst some of the surrounding buildings and the railway station can be described as quite grand too. Either by car or with another antique tramway one can also get to the Port of Soller, driving through the orange tree filled connecting valley, also known as "Huerta de Soller". The port itself is situated in a stunning natural harbour which is almost circular and further back surrounded and protected by the Tramuntana mountains. Along the harbour there are sandy beaches, marinas and restaurants and bars.
