The climate in this part of Spain is renowned as being the hottest, driest area of Spain, with more hours of sunshine than any other province.

There are ferries from Almeria to North Africa and airports with cheap flights to the UK and elsewhere within 1-2 hours drive (Almeria/Murcia/Alicante/Granada).
