Area Corralejo (Municipio de La Oliva)

Corralejo is a stunning Canarian town situated in the north of the Fuerteventura that enjoys the perfect balance between tourism and local life. In the town there are many shops, bars and restaurants, with foods ranging from traditional local Canarian fare with fabulous meats, cheeses and local fish, along with other more mouth-watering opportunities to discover. There are many supermarkets in the town as well as other specialist food shops, some supermarkets are open 7 days a week. Corralejo has 4 pharmacies in the town, with one always on duty.There is 4 24 hour private clinic and dentists as well as the centro de salud that offers a 24 hour emergency service.The beaches of the town are golden sand with clean turquoise waters and very safe, Scuba diving, windsurf, surf, stand-up paddle, kitesurf centres can be found on some of the beaches. Taxi stands are conveniently situated throughout the town and you will always find a taxi whatever time of night or day. The main bus station of Corralejo provides an excellent service of getting about the whole Island that is timely, clean and good value for money. The Bus (guagua) to Puerto del Rosario is every 30 min and connect to La Oliva, Villaverde and Cotillo every hour.The main ferry port is located at the north of harbour with ferries going to and from Lanzarote every half an hour and takes only 20 to 25 minutes even with the car. There are also different boats that offer boat excursion service, deep-sea fishing, catamaran and water taxi service, as well as line boats for the transfer to the island of Lobos of 6km2. It was one of the first natural spaces of the Canary Islands to be protected next to the Dunes of Corralejo of 16km2 of golden sand and very extensive beaches. Both received the denomination of Natural Park in the year 1982.
