Why move to Almoradi

The perfect location for anyone looking to become part of a real Spanish community and make the most of its cafe society and buzzing cultural life.

Although just a short drive from the some of the region’s most popular resorts, Almoradi is a town alive with real Spanish atmosphere. Head to one of the many plazas (squares) with their attendant tapas bars and you’ll be able to sit back and plug straight into the town’s social world. Built on agriculture made possible by an ancient Moorish irrigation system, Almoradi and its surroundings always feel green and lush, an oasis in this frequently sun-scorched part of Spain.

Community

A medium sized town with around 20,000 (mainly Spanish) inhabitants, Almoradi is built on a classic grid system of streets with many public areas which mean you’re never far from meeting a friendly face.

Schools

Almoradi has its own public state schools but if you’d prefer your children to follow the British educational system, there are international schools in Elche and Alicante.

Amenities

You will find everything you need and much more in Almoradi, with numerous bars, restaurants and shops. Saturday sees the town centre transformed by a street market with up to 500 stalls selling a variety of local produce. Alongside modern leisure and sports facilities you’ll also find beautiful historic gems including a 19th century theatre.

Jobs

Much of the town’s wealth comes from agriculture, however with a growing tourist sector, you may be able to find work in one of the many bars or restaurants. The nearby coast has more employment opportunities particularly during the busy summer months.

Health

There are good health facilities in town, including a public health centre, dentist and pharmacy. You’ll find the nearest hospital 15 minutes away in San Bartolome.

Transport

It’s easy to get around the region from Almoradi, with the AP-7 motorway running near the town and connecting you with Alicante airport, just 20 minutes away. If you are without your own transport head to the bus station where you’ll find services to the coast and many local towns and villages.

Living costs

Its position away from the coast means that prices tend to be a little cheaper in Almoradi. And with many shops and discount supermarkets to choose from you should be able to keep the cost of a weekly shop down.

Property

Choose from a variety of properties including apartments and villas, many of which are very reasonably priced. You can also investigate Luz de Almoradi, a development of luxury apartments on the outskirts or the El Banet urbanisation, home to a larger mix of expats.
