Why move to Fuente Alamo

A new international airport, a booming economy and an underexploited property market make this a perfect time to invest in this increasingly popular town.

Fuente Alamo has seen big changes in recent years, with a golf resort, a booming economy and a new international airport making it an increasingly popular destination for expats from the UK and further afield.

All of this makes it a great alternative for anyone looking for a more peaceful location away from the crowds of the neighbouring Costas. Even in peak season, the town and beautiful surrounding countryside is rarely crowded and you won’t struggle to get a table to enjoy a plate of delectable tapas and a refreshing cerveza (beer) after a day’s hill walking.

Community

The town is home to around 9,000 people with 18% of the population drawn from countries of northern Europe and as far away as Ecuador.

Property

While the town itself has a range of reasonably priced apartments and townhouses, many expats choose to reside in the surrounding countryside where there are many farmhouses and plots of land to develop.

Amenities

You’ll find everything you need in Fuente Alamo, with numerous shops, restaurants, banks and specialist food outlets. You can exercise in the local parks, sports facilities or at the 18 hole Hacienda del Alamo Golf club which also has a bowling green and tennis courts.

Transport

The new international airport for the Murcia region is a 30 minute drive away, as is Murcia itself and the local beaches. If you’re without your own transport, there are regular bus services around the region leaving from different parts of town.

Employment

Fuente Alamo’s economy isn’t as reliant on the tourist industry as much of this region and much of the work in town is in agriculture, manufacturing and an emerging technology sector. You’ll be in reasonable commuting distance of Murcia or the coastal resorts for a wider range of opportunities.

Health

There are a variety of options for you to choose from in Fuente Alamo including a public health clinic, a pharmacy and several private surgeries and dentists.

Schools

You can send your children to one of a variety of Spanish state schools in town, or look further afield at the El Limonar International School in Murcia which follows the UK national curriculum and is a 30 minute drive away.

Cost of Living

Its location, off the tourist radar, means that Fuente Alamo and much of the surrounding province tends to be a little cheaper in comparison to the popular resorts of the Costa Blanca to the north.
