Why move to Mil Palmeras

Move here for the quiet, warm and restful winters, the contemporary village-like developments and the beautifully clear waters lapping the beach.

Mil Palmeras is a contemporary Spanish village in the Pilar de la Horadada. In Castilian, the name Mil Palmeras means A Thousand Palms, and this fronded seashore is not far from the vast date palm orchards of the city of Elche. It’s a low key resort, with a single beach, a strip of bars and restaurants and a central square.

The Playa Mil Palmeras is known for its broad, golden sands. There are all the usual sun-bathing amenities, like sun loungers and chiringuitos selling freshly grilled fish, plus sports nets set up for the regular volleyball players and a cliff top walkway for more active residents.

The small Spanish village of Torre de la Horadada is within walking distance, and the nearby resort of La Manga is worth the short drive, with its healing salt baths and shallow bay. Murcia is conveniently close and so is the La Zenia Shopping Centre – set between Villamartin and Playa Flamenca. Nearby Laguna de Lo Monte is an artificial lake which is now a protected area for wetland birds.

Mil Palmeras is hallowed ground for golfers. Within a short driving radius, there are 4 prestigious golf courses; Royal Campoamor, Las Ramblas de Orihuela, Villamartin and Los Colinas.

Community

There is a lively atmosphere in Mil Palmeras in the summer with in-the-know tourists coming for the self-catered holiday homes rather than hotels. During the winter, life quietens down, but the discerning Spanish and northern European homeowners know that the sun will still shine stay and have the beach all to themselves.
