Why move to Pedreguer

Move to this tranquil town for beautiful views, excellent local produce, and a real sense of community spirit.

Pedreguer is a pretty market town at the foot of the breathtaking Muntanya Gran mountains. The town is surrounded by farmland in which a variety of local produce is grown, including oranges and grapes. This tranquil setting means that you can easily escape the crowds here, yet you’re only around 15 minutes away from the nearest beach.

This attractive town with its colourful facades and Moorish features has lots to keep its residents busy. From its year round programme of fiestas, to its weekend markets which attract people from all over the Costa Blanca, there’s always something going on. Take a quick trip to the Orba and Jalon Valleys, both less than minutes away, where there are beautiful citrus, olive and almond groves.

Community

The area is popular with northern Europeans including Germans, Scandinavians and British expats; it has a number of active community networks and mailing lists which keep residents up to date with what’s on in the area.

These include walking, cycling, historical tours and visits to Pedreguer’s beautifully manicured local gardens, which also host occasional classical concerts.

Property

In addition to the old town, there are 3 main urbanisations in the area: La Sella, Monte Solana and Monte Pedreguer. You’ll find a mix of property from modern villas and apartments to rustic fincas and town houses with period features.

Amenities

Pedreguer has a selection of supermarkets and shops, bars and excellent restaurants, doctors, dentists and chemists. There are popular markets held at weekends and even a number of British shops for expats missing their favourite brands from home. There are also a number of sports facilities in the town, including a golf course, tennis courts, several equestrian centres and a community sports centre.

Transport

Pedreguer is located between Valencia and Alicante airport and is just over an hour away from both. You’re just 5 minutes away from the AP-7 toll motorway, which is the fastest route but if you want to avoid the tolls and don’t mind adding an extra 15 minutes to your journey, you can also take the N332 which runs alongside it. Likewise, southbound Alicante is around an hour via the AP-7 or 90 minutes via the N332. The town also has a bus route which travels to nearby Denia, where you can change for Alicante.

Employment

Agriculture is the main industry in the are but the town is also known for the locally manufactured bags, hats and leather goods. Learning Spanish is advised and your best bet when looking for work this area is probably in sales or property.

Health

Pedreguer has its own Centro de Salud public medical centre and there is a public hospital just over 10 minutes away in nearby Denia.

Schools

There are a number of Spanish state schools to choose from in the area but if you’re looking for the British curriculum there are a few options within driving distance. The Steve Jobs School in Javea or King’s College British School of Alicante can both be reached in around 15 minutes.

Cost of Living

Pedreguer offers great value for money; the cost of living is much lower than in nearby Denia and other more expensive coastal resorts.
