Just 8 kilometers inland from the Costa Blanca lies Pinar de Campoverde meaning ‘green field of pine’ a charming hillside village set among fragrant pine trees. Like many Spanish towns, Pinar de Campoverde is split into two distinct parts the old and the new. Both parts of the village offer a good range of local facilities; the main difference is found in the architecture.

The village is very hot in the summer months and mild in the winter thanks to the protective effect of the surrounding mountains. Averaging around 3,000 hours of sunshine annually, temperatures often exceed 20 degrees. You can expect around 325 sunny days a year – perfect for an outdoor life exploring the surrounding mountains and many natural wonders in the area.

Head South West to the beautiful Río Seco Natural Park, where the scenery is spectacular, including amazing views of orange and olive groves, a dramatic gorge and beautiful, rugged terrain.

Pinar de Campoverde is a short 10 minute drive from some beautiful Blue Flag beaches, reported to be among the best in the region. In 7 minutes, you can reach Pilar de la Horadada, a nearby town which has a popular Sunday market, a year-round programme of festivals, a small cinema showing English films plus a number of excellent sports facilities.

Community

Pinar de Campoverde is a small village with around 3,000 inhabitants, comprised of a mix of permanent residents and holidaymakers. The village is very popular with northern Europeans and has a strong sense of community spirit. Despite its popularity with holidaymakers, the village is busy throughout the year, with many restaurants and bars.

Property

There are a variety of property types and styles. The old part of the village tends to have villas with larger plots while the newer part of the village has villas in smaller plots. Many properties in the area have beautiful views: either of the sea or the surrounding pines.

Pinar de Campoverde boasts a range of local facilities including supermarkets, bars and restaurants, a bank, several chemists, a doctor’s surgery, dentists, a veterinary surgery, hairdressers and beauty shops and a town hall.

Transport

A car is recommended in order to access the coastal resorts of the Costa Blanca. Murcia San Javier Airport is just 20 minutes away. If you fancy a trip to the city, Alicante is drivable in just under an hour.

Employment

The main opportunities in the area are found in the tourist industry, especially among the resorts of the Costa Blanca. Learning Spanish will put you at a distinct advantage in your job search.

Health

There are a several private doctors, a Centro Salud public health centre with English-speaking healthcare professionals, private dentists, several chemists and an optician.

Schools

Head to nearby Pilar de la Horadada where there are a range of good Spanish schools.

Cost of Living

Property here offers good value for money, with prices lower than those of the nearby coastal resorts.
