Why move to Playa De Los Cristianos

Move here to enjoy endless summer days, great food and drink and a healthy outdoor lifestyle of watersports, golf and plenty of walking.

Playa de los Cristianos is a beachside resort in the south of Tenerife and is a favourite among property buyers and in-the-know holidaymakers, who are no doubt enticed by its climate of eternal spring and excellent (and very wide) beach. This is a place to soak in the balmy delights of endless summer days, while the brilliant turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean lap at the shore. Or perhaps try your hand at kayaking, windsurfing or paddleboarding, all of which are readily available.

Head west along the beach to the harbour, where deep-sea fishing and whale watching provide an insight into the island’s spectacular sea life. From here, you can access Tenerife’s neighbouring islands, by catching the ferry to La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro. When you’re done, why not lose an afternoon (or two) strolling the promenade into town, where shops, bars, and restaurants offer a tempting respite from the sun. Glance around the town and you will see lots of Canarian architecture, a remnant from the town’s past as a sleepy fishing village.

Community

Los Cristianos has an international community and is particularly popular with British expats. The area is also very popular with families, who come for the excellent beach, walking-distance amenities and healthy lifestyle.

Property

Apartments including duplexes and penthouses are the order of the day, many of which offer sea and mountain views and access to a swimming pool.

Amenities

Thanks to the money brought in by tourism, the area is very well catered for, with everything you could need within walking distance: shops, bars, restaurants, golf and a harbour offering excursions to nearby islands.

Transport

The area has good transport links, with regular bus services to the airport and the islands main towns. You can be in Tenerife Reina Sofia Airport in around 20 minutes.

Employment

You’ll find most opportunities here in the tourist industry, though bear in mind that these tend to be seasonal. Learning Spanish is recommended when job hunting, as this will open up significantly more opportunities.

Health

There are a large number of doctors in the area, including independent practices and clinics. For English speaking doctors, head to The Europe Health Centre, which is just 10 minutes away in Playa de las Americas.

Schools

There are a number of schools; for the British curriculum you can try Wingate School in Cabo Blanco which accepts children from ages 3 – 18 and is just 12 minutes away. Alternately, you can try the Callao Learning Centre British International School, which is less than 20 minutes away and educates children between the ages 3 – 12.

Cost of Living

The south of the island is more expensive than the north, but you can also expect a very high standard of living as a result.
