Why move to Sucina

Escape the tourists in this peaceful village, a tranquil hideaway which has good access to nearby cities and leisure resorts.

This small village is located 15 minutes inland from the coastal city of San Javier and is surrounded by golf courses and attractive resorts.

Approaching the village from the southeast, you will notice olive groves lined with attractive cacti. Olives form one of the town’s main sources of revenue, which are exported along with almonds, melons, wheat, artichokes, beans, lemons, tomatoes and other produce.

Head to the village centre to its palm-lined square, where you will find a beautiful old church which rises over the town in its shades of rose and gold. Enjoy a lazy afternoon sampling some of the local cuisine in the restaurants and cafes.

Community

Sucina is an authentic Spanish community, with a smaller population of well-integrated British expats. There is less tourism, so the village is more tranquil than some of the coastal resorts and the businesses stay open year round.

Property

Sucina offers a mix of old and new, with apartments, villas, and townhouses. There are also several new developments.

Amenities

There are restaurants, bars and cafes and a grocery store in Sucina itself plus several other useful amenities including a fishmonger, a pharmacy and several banks. A number of golf courses and resorts are easily reachable within 10 minutes.

Transport

There is a bus service which travels to and from Murcia which is around 30 minutes away by car. San Javier is 15 minutes away, which leads to the beaches of Santiago de la Ribera – a further 5 minutes beyond. San Javier Airport is just 20 minutes away by car, while Murcia International Airport can be reached in just under 30 minutes.

Employment

Your best bet is to head to the coast, where the leisure and tourist industry provide fairly regular opportunities. Alternatively, you can centre your search on the nearby city of Murcia.

Health

Sucia has a medical centre, pharmacist, optician, and veterinarian. The Hospital General Universitario Los Arcos del Mar Menor is less than 15 minutes away.

Schools

There are several schools in the village; these are said to be popular with local expats. If you are looking for the English curriculum you’re in luck, as both King’s College, the British School of Murcia and El Limonar International School are less than 30 minutes away.

Cost of Living

Living costs are low compared to some of the more popular coastal resorts and property offers good value for money.
