Why move to Valencia Region

Come for the climate and stay for the food. Valencia is home to paella, homegrown oranges, and the La Tomatina Festival — a huge annual tomato fight!

Valencia Community covers the long strip of coast down the east of Spain. Craggy Iberian mountains dotted with small towns and villages lie inland and sandy coastal planes such as the Costa Blanca and Costa del Azahar line the shores. The major cities include the capitals Valencia, Alicante and Castellón de la Plana. Many residents speak both Spanish and Valencià (a dialect of Catalan).

Due to the year-round heat, an average working day runs from 10 am to 8 pm with a siesta break. Expect services like post offices, shops and banks to follow suit. Schools typically run between 9am and 5pm with a long break for lunch. Commuting to the major towns and cities is pretty easy, between the rail, metro and tram networks, and well-maintained highway and beltway roads. The airports of Valencia and Alicante are both busy but well serviced. Good mobile and internet coverage and low cost of living attract many digital nomads, particularly to the city of Valencia.

The mountains are great for snowboarding or hiking, many beaches offer scuba diving and the cities are littered with parks. Golf and motocross are popular sports with Valencia city home to the famous MotoGP™. Cultural draws include the festivals FIB in Benicassim, a music festival held in Castellón, and Falles held in the capital. Both Moorish and Catholic architecture and ancient monuments co-exist. There’s plenty of city-based museums and galleries but small towns are less crowded and attract fewer tourists. For example, Morella is a medieval walled city, Peniscola is home to the famous Templar Castle, overlooking the sea. Elche has Europe’s only large palm grove — one of many UNESCO listed sites in the region. To top it off, the region has some of the best birdwatching in the world, plentiful with pink flamingos and more.
