Why move to Cordoba Province

Cordoba is ideal for anyone looking for real Spanish culture, well away from the usual tourist centres, but within easy reach of Seville, Granada and Madrid.

Welcome to the province that drew mighty civilizations to its heart. With natural resources that attracted the Romans, Cordoba later become a major city of the Muslim empire in Spain. Today it is the most popular part of Andalucia, best known for the unique architectural heritage of its beautiful capital: Cordoba city.

You are virtually falling over the past in Cordoba; in 2018 the city became the first in the world to be awarded four UNESCO World Heritage Sites, that’s more than Rome and Paris!

With just 800,000 people living in the entire province, Cordoba it is one of Spain’s lesser known regions and it remains largely Spanish, rich in traditions drawn from its fascinating, varied history. It is also excellently positioned with Seville just a 45 minute train journey and Madrid reachable in under 2 hours.

Where much of the land to the south is barren and dry during the long summer months, in Cordoba you’ll find a lush landscape, thanks to the mighty Guadalquivir river which runs through the centre of the province. It is rich with olive groves and mile upon mile of vines producing grapes for the local dry white wine.

Away from the river and its plains is a landscape dominated by two mighty mountain ranges, adding a sense of drama to this breathtaking region.

Food is one of Cordoba’s biggest attractions and its traditional gastronomy has enjoyed a huge revival in recent decades. Locally produced olive oil, together with bountiful fruit and vegetables are the basis of delicious regional cuisine. And you won’t have to look far to find a restaurant or tapas bar serving delights such as salmorejo (cold tomato soup) orcochifrito (fried suckling pig). Even if the stewed bull’s tail from a fighting bull is not to everyone’s tastes, there are delicacies for everyone in Cordoba.
